Tashlich By Contemporary Judaic Artist, Marlene Burns

Judaic Artist, Marlene Burns, is pleased to present her latest addition to the "Sacred Intention" series that highlights and expresses Hebrew prayers, proverbs and psalms. "Tashlich" is the ancient Jewish custom of casting off one's sins into a body of water on Rosh HaShanah and is still practiced in congregations today. This vibrant new painting shows off Marlene's edgy style and use of bold color. A strong, black line, representing the casting, swipes through a brilliantly blue, green and purple color field of water. The word tashlich is hidden in partially formed circles at the top, while one perfect and complete circle at the bottom, represents the state of our souls when our process has completed. There are also illusions to tzitzit, that are used to show the casting off and fish. This custom is aligned to the story of the Akedah where Abraham journeys to Mount Moriah to sacrifice his son, Isaac.
Prints in many sizes and materials are available at the website when you...
