NEW YORK, NY – July 20, 2022 – After years of perfecting her unique brand of abstract expressionism, Marlene Burns is set to enter the NFT space. The digital era has allowed time-honored traditions to live on, and by entering the world of NFTs, Burns is ensuring that her art will be enjoyed for generations to come. Her second collection, Urban Abstracts, will be minted on September 1, 2022.
A true pioneer in the art world, Burns has always been passionate about Judaism. She apprenticed in sanctuary art in Cleveland, Ohio, while earning two degrees from the University of Cincinnati’s School of Design, Architecture and Art. Her career has included consultation, teaching, gallery affiliations and a successful business creating residential and commercial art.
Burns has always been involved in Temple life in the various cities in which she has painted and raised her family....

The tetragrammaton ‘Yud, Hay, Vav, Hay’ is the ineffable Hebrew Name of G-d.
According to Jewish Mysticism, Adonai went through 4 stages of creation from His spark of inspiration to the development of the concept. From emotional involvement and concrete planning, to action, while traveling through the worlds of Atzilut, Beriah, Yetzirah, and Asiyah.
Asiyah is the physical and lowest world in which we live: In this world, Adonai commanded us to build a sanctuary for Him so that he could dwell among us. (Exodus 25:8)

This painting serves as a visual tribute to the lives lost in the Holocaust (Shoah).
The stripes of the concentration camp uniforms and the barbed wire are overt associations, embedded in our minds.
The flames, reminiscent of Yizkor candles, serve as a reminder that we must never forget.
The artist visually faded the color out of the image, from top to bottom to allude to fading memories, as the Holocaust takes its place in history.
Yet, the brightness of the flames and word, enliven and inspire our spirit to remember!
